Product description
This recall involves three different coat styles, in four different colours: Rose Toggle Hoodie, Pink Duffle Coat, Blue Plaid Toggle Coat, and Mojave Toggle Coat. The coats have toggle fasteners down the front. The toggles are plastic, tan-coloured, and approximately 4.5 cm (1 ¾ in) long. The coats were sold in infant sizes up to 24 months.
Hazard identified
Gap Inc. has determined that the toggles may break and detach from the coats, posing a choking hazard to young children.
In cooperation with the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC) and Health Canada, Gap Inc. is voluntarily recalling the coats.
There have been no reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these coats.
Number sold
Approximately 3, 900 of the coats were sold in Canada, and approximately 19, 200 were sold in the United States, exclusively at GapKids, babyGap, and Gap stores.
Time period sold
The coats were sold from October 2008 through April 2009.
Place of origin
Manufactured in China and Indonesia.

What you should do
Consumers should immediately take the recalled coats away from children and return them to any babyGap, GapKids, or Gap store for a full refund.
Consumers who purchased coats online should contact Gap to return the product by mail. Consumers who return the coats before August 31, 2009 will also receive a 20% off coupon for one regular price item.
