Product description
Ba Bao Xiao Ke Dan is promoted as a traditional Chinese medicine. Its use is unknown.
Reason for warning
The Hong Kong Department of Health warned consumers not to buy or use Ba Bao Xiao Ke Dan after it was found to contain undeclared glibenclamide. Glibenclamide (also known as glyburide) is a prescription drug used to treat diabetes. It should only be taken under the supervision of a health care practitioner. The manufacturer has been instructed by the Hong Kong Department of Health to recall Ba Bao Xiao Ke Dan from the Hong Kong market.
Possible side effects
Side effects associated with glibenclamide include severe low blood sugar which may cause sweating, paleness, chills, headache, dizziness and confusion.

Canadians who have this product are advised not to use it, and should consult with a health care professional if they have concerns about their health related to the use of this product.
