Product description

This recall involves the Star Trek Enterprise Bridge play set. The set includes a platform that is modelled after the bridge of the U.S.S. Enterprise and one Star Trek figurine.

Images of the product and the words "Star Trek" and "U.S.S. Enterprise Bridge" are on the black packaging that contains the product.

The recalled toys can be identified by item number 61901 and UPC 0-43377-61901-7.

Hazard identified

The coating on the 12 cm by 24 cm flexible screen at the front of the bridge contains barium in excess of the allowable limit.

Some forms of barium are safely used in medical and commercial applications, while other forms of barium can be toxic, causing adverse health effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and cramps as well as more severe symptoms. Children's toys coated with paint containing barium in excess of the allowable limit are strictly prohibited in Canada.

Neither Health Canada nor RP Toys have received any reports of incidents or illnesses related to the use of this product.

Number sold

Approximately 950 units of the toy were sold across Canada.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold from April 2009 to December 2009.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled toy, remove the flexible screen, and dispose of the screen in regular household garbage. Consumers may contact RP Toys to receive a replacement flexible screen.
