Product description

18 piece set of brightly coloured interchangeable stacking pieces; only batch number GY1207 is involved in this recall; product packaging indicates for ages 2+; item no. 572; UPC # 000772005722.

Hazard identified

Testing by Health Canada revealed that the surface paint on batch number GY1207 of the wooden stacking train contains barium in excess of the allowable limit.

Some forms of barium are safely used in medical and commercial applications, while other forms of barium can be toxic, causing adverse health effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and cramps as well as more severe symptoms. Children's toys coated with paint containing barium, in excess of the allowable limit, are strictly prohibited in Canada.

Health Canada has not received reports of illness or injury to Canadians related to the use of this toy.

Number sold

Approximately 1,146 of the toys were sold in Canada.

Time period sold

The toys were sold from February 2008 until September 2008 at various toy, educational and variety stores nationwide.

Place of origin

Manufactured in China.
