Product description
The recalled beads are different colours and made of textured soft plastic beads. The beads can connect together to make a string. The beads are sold in a 6" x 6" x 8" clear plastic jar with a photo of a child playing with the beads on the label. The jar contains 16 pieces. The word "Edushape" is printed on the label.
The recalled beads can be identified by model number 997016 and UPC 608618970168.
Hazard identified
Testing by Health Canada in response to a consumer complaint revealed that the toy may release small parts; these small parts pose a choking hazard to young children.
Health Canada is aware of one report of the snap bead pegs loosening from the toy; there were no injuries as a result of the reported incident.

Number sold
Approximately 150 units of the recalled beads were sold at various retail stores across Canada.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from May 2009 to September 2009.
