Product description

This recall involves RaceORama Cars glazed dinner plates, distributed by Enesco Canada. The recalled plate has images of Cars and the words "RaceORama" and "Thunder After Lightning" written on the plate. This plate can be identified by item number MF2534 and UPC 065992386716.

Hazard identified

Health Canada's sampling and evaluation program has revealed that the glaze used on some of the recalled plates may contain lead and cadmium in excess of the allowable limits.

Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

Cadmium is highly toxic, builds up in the body, and can cause stomach pains, vomiting and diarrhea. Over time, exposure to cadmium can result in kidney damage.

Neither Enesco Canada nor Health Canada has received report of illness or injury to Canadians as related to the use of these plates.

Number sold

Approximately 1,239 of the recalled plates were sold primarily at Zellers across Canada and to a small select number of other retailers.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold from March 2009 to November 2009 in Canada.
