Product description

Wooden block with 4 pop up pegs (spring action) of the following colours: red, blue, yellow and green; packaging indicates age classification: from 12 months; product reference no. AO138L; UPC 5011979101389.

Hazard identified

Testing by Health Canada revealed that the surface paint on the toy contains barium in excess of the allowable limit.

Some forms of barium are safely used in medical and commercial applications, while other forms of barium can be toxic, causing adverse health effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and cramps as well as more severe symptoms. Children's toys coated with paint containing barium, in excess of the allowable limit, are strictly prohibited in Canada.

Health Canada has not received reports of illness or injury to Canadians related to the use of this toy.

The toys have been sold in Canada since approximately 1979 at various toy, educational and variety stores nationwide.

Consumers who purchased their toy before December 2006 are asked to dispose of the toy in an appropriate manner. Consumers who purchased their toy between January 2007 and August 2008 may return the toy where purchased for a full refund.
