Product description
This notice involves select Nokia-branded cellular telephone chargers, manufactured by BYD.

The chargers have the model number and "BYD" printed on a label on the charger. They were sold with a Nokia device or may have been purchased separately as an accessory.
Hazard identified
The plastic cover of the affected charger may come loose and separate from the charger, exposing internal components. If certain internal components are touched while the charger is plugged into a live socket, this could pose an electrical shock hazard to consumers.
Neither Nokia nor Health Canada has received reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these chargers.
Number sold
Approximately 75,005 units of these chargers were sold at Rogers, Fido, 7-11, Cityfone, and other independent retailers across Canada.
Time period sold
Affected chargers with model number AC-3U and AC-3E were manufactured and distributed after June 15, 2009, and chargers with model number AC-4U were manufactured and distributed after April 13, 2009.
Place of origin
Manufactured in China.

What you should do
Consumers should immediately stop using the affected chargers and contact Nokia to receive a free replacement charger. Consumers can verify whether their charger is included and register for a product exchange at Nokia's Charger Exchange Program website.
