Product description
This recall involves Lighted Polar Bear and Lighted Moose outdoor decorations sold by Costco.
The Lighted Polar Bear has 200 LED lights and can be identified by UPC 7-64878-89970-7 and Costco Item #909083.
The Lighted Moose has 160 LED lights and can be identified by UPC 7-64878-89969-1 and Costco Item #909082.
Hazard identified
The wiring on the recalled outdoor decorations can short out, posing a fire hazard.
Costco has received 6 reports for the Lighted Polar Bear and 7 reports for the Lighted Moose, ranging from the cord burning and smoking, to the product catching on fire. There have been no reports of injuries or property damage, other than to the item itself.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to these outdoor decorations.
Number sold
Approximately 590 Lighted Polar Bears and 1,780 Lighted Moose were sold at Costco Wholesale stores across Canada.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from August 2009 to November 2009.
Place of origin
Manufactured in China.

Consumers should immediately unplug and stop using the recalled outdoor decorations and return them to Costco Wholesale for a full refund.
