Product description

This recall involves two models of knitted children's hats. The Erwin Beanie is a hand knit wool hat sold in various colours with a wide white band, and is styled like a frog, with knitted eyes attached. The Poseidon Beanie is a hand knit wool hat sold in various colours, and has knitted aquatic animals attached. Both hats have the style number 08-0006.

Hazard identified

The eyeballs on the Erwin beanie and the octopus legs on the Poseidon Beanie may come loose, posing a choking hazard for young children.

Ambler has received one report of an incident from a customer involving these products, but no injuries were reported.

Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these hats.

Number sold

Approximately 834 of the recalled products were sold in Canada.

The recalled products were sold at retail stores in Quebec, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia and the Northwest Territories.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold between August 2008 and November 2008.

Place of origin

Manufactured in Nepal.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately take the recalled hats away from children.

Consumers may return all affected hats to Ambler to be modified or disposed of at their waste depot. Otherwise, the suspect parts should be cut off the product and disposed of in regular household trash.
