Product description
This recall involves the cover materials used in the HT 1-man Polar Escape Express and the 2-man Polar Escape Magnum ice shelters.
The affected ice shelter models include:
- PE-1 Polar Escape Express, which can only accommodate one fisherman.
- PE-2 Polar Escape Magnum, which can accommodate two fishermen.
Hazard identified
Health Canada's auditing process revealed the materials used in these ice shelters do not meet the requirements for tent flammability under Canadian law.
The ice shelters also lack accurate warnings required for flammable products. Inaccurate warnings may result in misuse of this product and lead to serious injury.
Health Canada has not received reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these ice shelters.
Number sold
Approximately 245 of the recalled ice shelters were distributed in Canada.
Time period sold
The recalled ice shelters were sold from October 2007 to March 2008 at various retail stores in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec.
Place of origin
Manufactured in China.
