Product description
This recall involves a black Honeywell Quick Heat Ceramic Heater with model number HZ-316C. The model number can be found on the back of heater. The product packaging has UPC 092926341121 written on it.
Recalled heaters can be identified by the 5-digit date code, which is engraved on the metal prong of the plug. The first three digits on recalled heaters should be between "120" and "300". The last two digits should be "09".
This recall does not include any other models or any other date codes.
Hazard identified
The front plate of the heater can detach, exposing the internal parts, which may be hot, or the circuitry of the heater. This can pose a fire and burn hazard to users.
Neither Kaz Inc. nor Health Canada has received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these heaters.
Number sold
Approximately 84,000 of the recalled heaters were sold at Home Depot Canada, Home Hardware stores, Staples/Business Depot, Loblaws Inc., Wal-Mart Canada, and various other Canadian retailers across Canada.
Time period sold
The recalled heaters were sold from July 2009 to October 2009.
Place of origin

What you should do
Consumers should immediately stop using the heater and contact Kaz to verify that their heater is included in the recall. Kaz will provide consumers with instructions for returning the product and receiving a replacement.
Consumers are asked to not return heater back to the store where it was purchased.
