Product description
Wooden stacking toy set; 25 pieces painted in red, yellow, blue, green, purple and orange; manufacturer indicates ages 2+; item no. 094730; UPC# 000772005678, batch # ZP1207 is clearly marked on the base of the toy.
Hazard identified
Testing by Health Canada revealed that the surface paint on the toy contains barium in excess of the allowable limit.
Some forms of barium are safely used in medical and commercial applications, while other forms of barium can be toxic, causing adverse health effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and cramps as well as more severe symptoms. Children's toys coated with paint containing barium, in excess of the allowable limit, are strictly prohibited in Canada.
Health Canada has not received reports of illness or injury to Canadians related to the use of this toy.
Number sold
Approximately 300 of the toys were sold in Canada.
Time period sold
The toys were sold from February 2008 until August 2008 at Toys "R" Us stores nationwide.
Place of origin
Manufactured in China.
