Product description
The recalled product is sold in a blue aerosol container (weight; 467 g, UPC: 026916000453, product number: CTR 250, coating colour: black) with a red spray nozzle. This recall does not apply to the same product with a black spray nozzle.
This spray product is designed to protect truck beds, inner fenders, tailgates, bedrails, cargo vans, push bars, metal floors, trailer beds, step areas and running boards.
Hazard identified
Tests conducted by Health Canada have shown that this product does not meet the requirements of the Consumer Chemicals and Containers Regulations (CCCR), 2001, with respect to flame projection.
The length of the flame projection generated by this product exceeds the Canadian regulated limit thereby posing a potential fire hazard.
No incident or case involving injuries has been reported to Health Canada in relation to use of this product.
Number sold
Approximately 118,000 units of this product were sold in Canada at various retailers, including Canadian Tire, Wal-Mart and Napa.
Time period sold
The product was sold between March 2006 and August 2008.
