Product description
This recall involves certain refillable and non-refillable GrillPro and Barbecue Genius utility lighters that were manufactured before September 2009, using the same handle/body style as the lighters pictured. The date of manufacture can be found on the label on the lighter in the format MM/YY.

Hazard identified
Although testing by Health Canada has revealed that the GrillPro non-refillable utility lighter (model number 58420) failed to meet safety standards, Onward Multi-Corp Inc. has taken the precaution of recalling all models of utility lighters that use the same internal components.
The GrillPro utility lighter with model number 58420 tested by Health Canada has revealed that some of the lighters have unsafe burning characteristics, posing a hazard to users. For example, in some instances, the flame is too high and the lighter continues to burn even after the trigger mechanism is released.
Neither Onward Multi-Corp Inc. nor Health Canada has received reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these lighters.

Number sold
Approximately 215,000 units of the recalled lighters were distributed to various retailers across Canada, including hardware stores, specialty stores, and grocery stores.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from November 2007 to November 2009.
