Product description
This recall involves the Candlsense™ Warmers with product codes ranging from YD0629 through YD0652 and YD0701 through YD0708. The candle warmers measure about 12 cm (4 ¾ inches) in diameter.
The heating plate is black and the surrounding area is white plastic.
The "Provo Craft & Novelty Candle Warmer Air Freshener Model: WCY-8888" and the product code are embossed on the underside of the warmer.
Hazard identified
The internal heating element of the candle warmer can detach and melt the bottom of its plastic casing, which can in turn ignite or scorch the surface on which the candle warmer is placed, posing a fire hazard to consumers.
The company, Provo Craft, has received 11 reports of incidents in which the heating elements detached, including two fires and nine incidents of property scorching. One consumer reported a blistered finger.
No incidents or injuries have been reported to Health Canada.
Number sold
About 300 units were sold in Ontario and 5100 units in New Brunswick.
The recalled product was sold by the following establishments: Wal-Mart in Mississauga, Ontario and Cottage Industry Supplies, Ltd. in St. Thomas, New Brunswick
Time period sold
The Candlsense™ Warmers were sold from September 2006 to September 2007.
Place of origin
