Product description
The recalled two-slice toaster is black with stainless steel trim and has a digital display below the toaster lever.
The Black & Decker® brand name is on the top of the toaster. Model number ST2000 is printed on the rating plate on the bottom of the toaster.
Hazard identified
An electrical component in the toaster can overheat and ignite the circuit board, posing a fire hazard.
The company, Applica Canada Corporation, has received four reports of the toasters overheating, including two reports of fire that caused damage to the kitchen in which the appliance was installed. There have been no reported injuries.
Health Canada has not received reports of injuries or incidents to Canadians related to the use of these toasters.
Number sold
Approximately 4,000 of the recalled toasters have been sold to consumers in Canada.
Time period sold
The toasters were sold from March 2007 through November 2007 at home improvement and discount department retailers nationwide, including Canadian Tire and London Drugs.
Place of origin
Manufactured in China.

Consumers should immediately stop using and unplug the recalled toaster.
