Product description
This recall involves Energy-brand Big Screen Cleaning products by Gentec International. The cleaning solution comes in a 300 mL gray plastic spray bottle with a gray and white plastic pump. The name "Big Screen Cleaning Fluid / Liquid de Nétoyage pour Grands Écrans" is printed on the label of the spray bottle.
The cleaning solution is sold both individually and as part of a set of three pieces with a cleaning cloth and brush.
The recalled product can be identified by the following names, model numbers and UPC numbers:
- Big Screen Cleaning Fluid: model number ECV310 and UPC 059497106405
- Big Screen Cleaning System: model number ECV300 and UPC 059497106399
Hazard identified
Health Canada's auditing process has revealed that this product does not meet the mandatory warning labelling and child-resistant container requirements, as required under Canadian law.
The lack of child-resistant container and appropriate warnings on the label could result in unintentional exposure to this product and lead to serious illness or injury.
Health Canada has received one report of a child who was able to spray out the cleaning solution effortlessly; this incident did not result in injury to the child involved.
Number sold
Approximately 32,568 of the recalled products were sold at Sears and Visions retail stores in Canada.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from July 2007 to November 2009.
