Product description
Aqua Dots Starter Pen Pack, Aqua Dots Refill Packs, Aqua Dots Themed Packs (Aqua Dots Super Studio, Aqua Dots Pet Pals Pack, Aqua Dots Activity Pack).
This toy is a craft kit which allows children to create various shapes using small coloured beads. The beads fuse together when sprayed with water. Contents may vary depending on pack or model purchased and can include: hundreds of coloured beads, a bead applicator pen which is used to place dots on the templates, a tray to hold the beads in place and a spray bottle.
This product is age labelled for 4+.
This product is marketed under the name Bindeez in Australia.
Hazard identified
Information from Australia and the United States indicates that the tiny coloured beads may be coated with a substance that can become toxic when it is ingested. Children who swallow the beads may become comatose, develop respiratory depression, or have seizures.
There have been seven reported poisonings internationally which resulted from ingestion of the beads. Health Canada has not received reports of illness or injury to Canadian children.
Number sold
Spin Master indicates that approximately 28,000 have been sold to consumers.
The toys were sold across Canada at a five major retailers: Sears Canada, Toys "R" Us Canada, Mastermind, Zellers, Wal-Mart Canada. The toys were also sold to some independent stores and chains.

April 2007 to November 2007.

What you should do
Consumers are instructed to immediately take the toy away from children and discard any remaining beads and any designs created with the beads.
Consumers can contact Spin Master for replacement beads or a toy of equal value at 1-800-622-8339 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit the firm's Web site.
