This recall involves various Amerella brand children's upper outerwear hoodies and jackets with drawstrings in the hood/neck area:

Hazard identified

Health Canada's sampling and evaluation program has determined that drawstrings on children’s upper outerwear can become caught on playground equipment, fences or other objects and result in strangulation, or in the case of vehicle, the child being dragged.

Neither Amerella nor Health Canada has received reports of consumer incidents or injuries related to the use of these products.

Number sold

Approximately 12,342 hoodies and jackets were sold at l'Aubainerie and other retailers in Canada.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold from March 2012 to February 2014.

Place of origin

Manufactured in China and Bangladesh.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately remove the drawstring from the jacket or hoodie to eliminate the hazard.
