Product description
This recall involves ALEX Hoops for the Tub bath toy. The bath toy includes 3 soft plastic balls with a squirting feature in assorted colours, along with a basketball net with 2 suction cups.

Hazard identified
Health Canada’s sampling and evaluation program has determined that these plastic toys do not meet the Phthalates Regulations and may pose a chemical hazard. Specifically the toys contain a phthalate, Di(2-ethylhexyl) Phthalate (DEHP), that exceeds the allowable limit.
Studies suggest that certain phthalates, including DEHP, may cause reproductive and developmental abnormalities in young children when soft vinyl products containing phthalates are sucked or chewed for extended periods.
As of February 5, 2018, the company has received no reports of incidents in Canada, and no reports of injuries.

Number sold
Approximately 240 units of the affected products were sold in Canada at Mastermind Toys.
Time period sold
The recalled product was sold from September 2017 to February 2018.
