Product description
This recall involves 5.0kW PTAC units sold under the brand names: Amana, Comfort-Aire, and Century.
Recalled units have serial numbers 0702112056 through 0804237539. Amana units have the model number PTxxx3x50xx while Comfort-Aire and Century units have the model number EKTxxx-150x. The serial and model numbers can be found on the control board plate found under the PTAC unit's front cover.
Hazard identified
The power cord of recalled units can overheat, which may result in a burn or pose a burn or fire hazard.
Goodman has received nine reports of smoke or fire associated with the PTAC's power cords, with no resulting injuries.
Number sold
Approximately 633 units of the recalled products were sold in Canada.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from February 2007 to June 2008.
Place of origin
Manufactured in the United States.
