Product description
This recall involves air compressors sold under the Craftsman and Delta Shopmaster brand names.
The Craftsman brand compressors involved in this recall are models 919-72412, 919-724121, 919-724122, and 919-72413. The Sears Craftsman brand compressors have a red 15 gallon tank.
The Delta Shopmaster brand compressor involved in this recall is model CP503. The model CP503 compressors have a gray 12 gallon horizontal tank.
The model number and manufacture date on each unit is located on the unit name plate on the tank.
Hazard identified
The air compressor motor can overheat, posing a fire hazard.
DeVilbiss has received nine reports of motors overheating, including three reports of fire damage to surrounding property. No injuries have been reported.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these air compressors.
Number sold
Approximately 8,901 units of the affected products were sold across Canada. Craftsman brand compressors were sold at Sears, while Delta Shopmaster brand compressors were sold at home centre, hardware and discount stores.
Time period sold
Craftsman brand compressors were sold from approximately September 2001 to June 2006.
Delta Shopmaster brand compressors were sold from approximately June 2002 to March 2003.

Consumers should immediately stop using and unplug the recalled air compressors and call DeVilbiss or Sears for a free inspection and repair.
