ABRA Electronics recalls set of gray color rare earth sphere magnets due to ingestion hazard
Summary
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled magnet set and return product for a refund.
Affected products
This recall involves sets of gray color rare earth 5mm sphere magnets packaged in an industrial plastic bag without a UPC number or brand. It would have had a sticker on the bag with the part#: MAG-N-5-SPHERE.
Issue
Rare earth magnets are small and powerful magnetic balls that can be used to build sculptures, puzzles, patterns, shapes, etc.
Small, powerful magnets can be easily swallowed by children of all ages, posing serious and potentially life-threatening risks.
When more than one powerful magnet is swallowed in a short period of time, the magnets can attract one another while moving through the intestines. This can cause the intestines to twist, creating blockages or tearing of the intestinal walls.
As of March 27, 2023, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada.
What you should do
Consumers should immediately take the recalled magnet set away from children and return them for refund.
