2009 Model Electra Bicycles with Trays or Baskets
Product description
This recall involves Trays and Baskets on 2009 Model Bicycles by Electra. The recalled 2009 bicycle models included in this recall are as follows: Delivery 3i, Delivery 8D, Holiday 3i, Holiday 8i and Surf 3i. The recall also includes after-market alloy/wood front trays and front mount wicker baskets with a removable tote bag.
This recall does not include bicycles without front trays or baskets or any other Electra bicycles.
Hazard identified
The front tray or basket can come loose from the fork crown and contact the front tire, posing a fall hazard to riders.
The U.S. Importer, Electra Bicycle, has received thirteen reports of a front tray coming loose, two of which allegedly resulted in minor injuries, including scrapes and bruises. Electra Bicycle has also received two reports of a front basket coming loose, with no reported injuries in the U.S. only.
Neither Electra Bicycle nor Health Canada has received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these bicycles.
Number sold
Approximately 750 of the recalled products were sold in Canada.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from from October 2008 through August 2009.
Place of origin
Manufactured in Taiwan.
