Product description
This recall involves 2008 model folding bicycles sold under the brand name "Dahon". The following models are included in this recall:
- 2008 Ciao P8
- 2008 Glide P8
- 2008 Jetstream P8
- 2008 Mu P8
- 2008 Mu P24
- 2008 Mu SL
- 2008 Mu XL Sport
- 2008 Vitesse D7 HG
- 2008 Speed D7
- 2008 Speed P8
- 2008 Speed TR
- 2008 Speed Pro TT
Bicycles that have a sticker with the words "Radius Handlepost" are not included in this recall. Also, bicycles that have the letter "R" written at the base of the handlepost (see picture) are not included in this recall.
Hazard identified
The hinge on the handlepost can crack, posing a potential fall hazard to users.
Neither Dahon nor Health Canada has received any reports of incidents or injuries relating to the use of these bicycles.
Number sold
Approximately 1,100 of the recalled products were sold at various retailers across Canada.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold in 2008 and 2009.
Place of origin
Manufactured in Taiwan and China.

What you should do
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bicycles and take their bicycle to an authorized Dahon dealer for a free inspection and repair of the handlepost hinge.
