Product description

This recall involves Gerbing's and Harley-Davidson® black nylon, 12 volt, heated jackets. “Gerbing’s Heated Clothing” or “Harley-Davidson” is printed on the front left chest of the jackets.

The recalled Gerbing’s jackets are model numbers JKLN and PO# 3796. The model number, PO number, and “use only 12 Volts” text are printed on a label sewn inside, next to the jacket front zipper.

The part number of the recalled Harley-Davidson® branded jackets is 98324-09VM (all sizes).

The following labels are sewn into the interior seam on the liners left side.

Hazard identified

An improperly crimped connector in the heating element in the back portion of some of the jacket liners is prone to overheating. This can cause damage to the jacket and in some cases, minor burns to the wearer.

Gerbing's has received two reports in the United States of the jacket liners overheating, causing minor dime-sized burns to the backs of consumers, resulting in blisters.

Health Canada has not received any incident reports related to the use of these jackets.

Number sold

Approximately 11,000 units of the Gerbing's jackets were sold in Canada.

Approximately 796 units of the Harley-Davidson® jackets were distributed to retailers in Canada.

Time period sold

The recalled Gerbing's branded jackets were sold from April 2011 to December 2012.

The recalled Harley-Davidson branded jackets were shipped from April 2011 to March 2013.

Place of origin

Manufactured in China.
